Uterine fibroids are an overgrowth of muscular and fibrous tissues, typically developing in the walls of the uterus. They are the most common tumor of the female reproductive tract. Though they are benign, they cause significant harm to nearby organs, as well as anemia due to heavy menstruation.

What are Uterine Fibroids?

On the day of the treatment, the fibroid specialist will use image guidance to infuse a therapeutic agent into the fibroid, which will result in the fibroid shrinking.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an enlargement of the prostate gland. Your risk of developing an enlarged prostate increases with age. An enlarged prostate can constrict or partially block the urethra, which causes lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The most common symptom is extremely painful urination.

What is BPH?

Prostatic artery embolization (PAE) is a minimally invasive treatment. This procedure helps improve lower urinary tract symptoms caused by a Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). At USA Prostate Centers, our expert interventional radiologists (IRs) perform a PAE using advanced imaging techniques to reduce blood supply to the prostate.

Prostatic Artery Embolization

PAE BENEFITS:

  • Lower risk of complications due to it being a non-invasive outpatient procedure
  • No stitches, scarring, or general anesthesia like TURP.
  • No hospital stay required.
  • Relief from painful prostatic symptoms within a few days.
  • Resume your normal activities the next day.
